Ebad Rahman
Chair of the Board of Directors
Ebad Rahman obtained his law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School and has a Bachelors degree in Computer Science prior to that. He is currently a practicing lawyer specializing in corporate/commercial matters. Ebad joined Islamic Relief Canada’s board in 2016.
Dr. El-Tantawy Attia, Ph.D.

Dr. El Tantawy Attia worked in the Reactor Physics and Nuclear Analysis Departments of the Ontario Power General for more than 27 years before retiring in 2003. Dr Attia has been an active member of the Muslim community, previously serving as President of the Muslim Investment Group and the Canadian Islamic Trust Foundation. He also currently serves as the Executive Director of Toronto Masjid.
Afnan Attia
Member of the Board of Directors
Afnan Attia is currently the Director of Corporate Development and Strategy at Morneau Shepell, an HR services company based out of Toronto, Canada. She graduated from the Schulich School of Business at York University with a Bachelor of Business Administration.
Afnan has volunteered with various Islamic not for profit organizations, and in addition to joining the IRC board, Afnan has recently co-founded The Female Finance Project, a not for profit that is dedicated to offering financial education and empowerment for women.
Naseem Mithoowani
Member of the Board of Directors
Naseem Mithoowani a practicing lawyer in the GTA, along with serving as an Adjunct Professor at Osgoode Hall Law School, where she got her law degree, and as a part-time adjudicator at the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal.
She is known for her courageous and bold approach to challenge the treatment of minorities in Canada and has won high profile legal cases in recent years. In addition to her exemplary legal work that she does defending minorities and underrepresented communities she is also an active member of several community, political and religious organizations.
Dr. Aarif Pathan, M.D.

Dr. Aarif Pathan graduated medical school in 2001 from University of Alberta and completed residency in Family Medicine at University of Western Ontario.
He was a staff physician in the Department of Internal Medicine at William Osler Health Corporation in Toronto 2003 to 2008 before returning to Edmonton to practice Family Medicine. He is dedicated to promoting healthcare in underprivileged communities in Edmonton.
He also has a passion in mentorship and has coached community league soccer and basketball. Long time donor and volunteer for Islamic Relief, he became a Board member of Islamic Relief Canada in 2019 and continues in that role.
Dr. Hany Soliman, M.D.

Dr. Hany Soliman is a Radiation Oncologist and Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. He is actively involved in medical research and education. He was brought up in the Toronto area and has a bachelors of science and medical degree from the University of Toronto. He has been involved in the Muslim community at a grass roots levels and has a passion for charitable work.
Sarah Lawendy,

Sarrah Lawendy is an educator and a community activist. She currently works in academic consulting and mentoring young community leaders. Sarrah holds a Bachelors of Arts in Rhetoric and Professional Writing, a Bachelors of Education, and a Masters of Education. Sarrah serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors for the Youth Coalition Combatting Islamophobia, a youth centred non-profit organization dedicated to fighting Islamophobia.
