The Barrie and Laurie Green Family Charitable Trust has made a donation to Islamic Relief Canada for the Quebec City Mosque victims. The Jewish charity was shocked and saddened on what happened at the Quebec Islamic Cultural Centre and wanted to show their support and solidarity. The donation was made on behalf of all the coworkers at Barrie Green’s company Greenrock Property Management Limited.
In a letter to Islamic Relief Canada, CEO Barrie Green says: “Like so many Canadians, I was shocked and sickened to hear of the recent Quebec City shootings and felt that we could help, if only in a small way, financially” Islamic Relief Canada welcomes this donation and is pleased to see many Canadians of all faiths and background coming together to help those killed and injured in Sunday’s attack.
On Monday morning, Islamic Relief Canada created a fund for people who wanted to support the victims’ families. Over $170k has been raised so far – inclusive of the donation by Barrie Green today. The funerals of three of the victims were held in Montreal today while a more public funeral is taking place after Friday prayers tomorrow.
