Quebec Mosque Update: Paramount Fine Foods and Islamic Relief Canada to cover cost of mosque reconstruction and funeral rights.
Jan 31st 2017 – Middle Eastern restaurant chain, Paramount Fine Foods, has reached out to Islamic Relief Canada and confirmed they would like to support the community in Quebec by covering the costs of reconstruction at the mosque as well as the costs of the funeral rights for those killed in Sunday’s night shooting.
Yesterday, Islamic Relief Canada launched a campaign to help the families of the victims and those that were affected when Alexandre Bissonnette marched into the Quebec Islamic Cultural Centre killing six people and injuring many more.
As of this morning, over $70k was raised from members of the Muslim community across Canada.
Paramount Fine Foods CEO, Mohamad Fakih says, “We were all shocked when we heard the news of the shooting. I wanted to help and today I am committed to making sure the funding for the reconstruction of the mosque is taken care of as well as all the funeral costs for those killed. Because of the close relationship Islamic Relief Canada has with the Quebec Islamic Cultural Centre, they will be administering the funds.”
Zaid Al-Rawni from Islamic Relief Canada says: “Our teams are in Quebec supporting the mosque, the people affected and the victims’ families. We’ve had an overwhelming support from Canadians wanting to help in whatever way they can. This commitment from Mohamad Fakih will go a long way in rebuilding the mosque and keeping the community together after such a tragedy”
